Basic Guidelines

  • Duration: 2 Hours.
  • Total Questions: 100 objective-type questions.
  • Marking Scheme: 3 marks for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: -1 mark for every incorrect answer.
  • Normalization: Since exams are held in multiple shifts, we note that the IAF uses a normalization formula to ensure fairness. The formula is: $M_{ij} = \frac{\bar{M}_{tg} – M_{qg}}{\bar{M}_{ti} – M_{iq}} (M_{ij} – M_{iq}) + M_{qgm}$.

Physical Standards (Minimum Requirements)

Note for Technical Branch: Eligible streams include Electronics, Mechanical, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering. The EKT (Engineering Knowledge Test) has been discontinued; technical knowledge is now assessed through integrated sections or specific entry criteria.

The 5-Day AFSB Selection Process

If you clear the written test, you will be called for the Air Force Selection Board (AFSB):

  • Day 1: Screening Test (OIR and PPDT).
  • Day 2: Psychology Tests (TAT, WAT, SRT, SD).
  • Day 3 & 4: GTO Tasks (Group discussions, outdoor tasks).
  • Day 5: Personal Interview and Conference.
