CSIR UGC NET: Examination Dates, Eligibility, Exam Pattern, and Syllabus:

National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the CSIR UGC NET examination to shortlist candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowship. This examination also determines the eligibility of the shortlisted candidate whether they can be appointed as a lecturer in Indian universities/colleges or not. CSIR UGC NET is held 2 times a year in June and December. This year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has postponed the examinations for June. This is a national-level examination and the National Testing Agency itself looks after this examination. The candidates who qualify the CSIR UGC NET examination would become a lecturer in the college that falls under the faculty of Science & Technology only.

The CSIR UGC NET is an online computer-based examination of 3 hours. There will be three sections in the examination and the number of questions in each section is different as per the subjects. So, we suggest students check the official NTA website to know the complete marking scheme and number of questions for the particular subject they have applied for. If you have selected chemical science then there will be 120 questions, Physical science (75), and so on. Also, there will be a negative marking in the examination depending upon the total number of questions in the examination. The students who are applying for this examination should have Indian citizenship. Students who are applying for JRF NET need to meet the maximum age limit of 28 years. However, there is no such age limit for the post of lecturer. There will be 5 years of age relaxation for the OBC candidates and 3 years for the candidates who fall under the SC/ST/PWD and female category.

It is important to have a specific educational qualification to apply for the CSIR UGC NET examination. Candidates should either have a master’s degree in technology or an MBBS degree to apply for this examination. Also, if you are a General/OBC candidate then you should have 55% in your masters to apply for this examination. Similarly, the candidates under SC/ST/PWD category should have obtained 50% marks in their masters.

 

National Testing Agency conducts CSIR UGC NET twice in a year. This exam is conducted to hire the candidates for the post of Assistance Professor (Lecturer) and the candidates who want to do Junior Research Fellowship can also apply for this examination. CSIR UGC NET Eligibility Criteria

Before taking the any steps first do check the eligibility norms as if one will not meet the eligibility norms those will be not considered for the recruitment process. From below read the detailed eligibility criteria.

Nationality: Candidates should have Indian Citizenship.

Age Limit

  • JRF NET – The maximum age of the candidates must be 28 years as on 01-01-2021.
  • Lectureship (LS) NET – No upper age limit

Age Relaxation

  • The OBC candidates will be given 5 years of age relaxation
  • The SC/ST/PWD and female category candidates will be given 3 years of relaxation.

Education Qualification

The candidates must have M.Sc. / Integrated BS-MS / BS-4 years / BE / B. Tech / BPharma / MBBS degree and the candidates belonging to General/OBC and SC/ST/PWD category should have obtained 55% and 50%, respectively.
