Get to know CSIR UGC NET 2024: Examination Dates, Eligibility, Exam Pattern, and Syllabus- The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the CSIR UGC NET examination to shortlist candidates for the award of Junior Research Fellowship. This examination also determines the eligibility of the shortlisted candidates whether they can be appointed as lecturers in Indian universities/colleges or not. CSIR UGC NET is held 2 times a year, in June and December. This year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has postponed the examinations for June. This is a national-level examination, and the National Testing Agency looks after it. The candidates who qualify for the CSIR UGC NET examination will become lecturers in the college that falls under the faculty of Science and technology only.
The CSIR UGC NET is an online computer-based examination of 3 hours. The examination will have three sections, and the number of questions in each section differs according to the subjects. If you have selected chemical science, there will be 120 questions, Physical science (75), and so on. Also, there will be a negative marking in the examination depending upon the total number of questions. The students who are applying for this examination should have Indian citizenship. Students applying for JRF NET must meet the maximum age limit of 28 years. However, there is no such age limit for the lecturer post. There will be 5 years of age relaxation for the OBC candidates and 3 years for the candidates who fall under the SC/ST/PWD and female category.
It is important to have a specific educational qualification to apply for the CSIR UGC NET examination. Candidates should either have a master’s degree in technology or an MBBS degree to apply for this examination. Also, if you are a General/OBC candidate, you should have 55% in your master’s to apply for this examination. Similarly, the candidates under the SC/ST/PWD category should have obtained 50% marks in their masters.
National Testing Agency conducts CSIR UGC NET twice a year. This exam is conducted to hire candidates for the post of assistant professor (Lecturer), and the candidates who want to do Junior Research Fellowship can also apply for this examination.
