Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) conducts the RRB JE Examination on the national level for multiple posts. The students can apply for the post of Junior Engineer, Chemical and Metallurgical Assistant, Depot Material Superintendent, and JE (IT). All of the above-mentioned posts are reputed once and the difficulty level of examination varies from moderate to hard. Currently, there are no updates from RRB regarding the application dates of this examination. So we request the aspirants to check the RRB website or Spin on Education website regularly for any latest updates.

It is important to go through the eligibility criteria of the RRB JE examination before applying for the post. The candidate should be of Indian nationality to apply for this examination. Also, people from Nepal and Bhutan are eligible to appear for this examination. Also, there is an age restriction to apply for the RRB JE Examination. Candidates more than 33 years and less than 18 years of age are not allowed to apply for this examination. However, there is age relaxation for the candidates falling under SC/ST, OBC, and PwD categories. The age relaxation for the SC/ST, OBC, and PwD categories will be 5 years, 3 years, and 13 years respectively.

There are four stages in the RRB JE examination. Students have to clear all four stages separately to qualify for the post. The first two stages will be a computer bases test. In this first stage, students have to answer 100 Multiple choice types questions of 100 marks. There will be four subjects in the first CBT– Mathematics (30), General Intelligence and reasoning (25), General Awareness (15), and General Science (30). The second stage of the RRB JE examination is also an online computer-based test. There will be a total of 150 questions in this section from 5 subjects. The five subjects would be General Awareness, Physics/Chemistry, Basic computer, Basic environment, and Pollution control and technical ability. The weightage of each subject will be 15,15,10,10 and 100 respectively. Aspirants will get 120 minutes (2 hours) to complete the second stage of the RRB JE Examination.

After qualifying for both computer-based tests, there will be a document verification and medical round. It is important to clear all four stages to the designated post. Nationality:

  • A candidate must have Indian citizenship or the candidate belonging from Nepal or Bhutan.
  • The candidates who have settled in India before 1st January 1962 and want to permanently settle in India are eligible to apply

Age Limit

  • The candidate’s age must be a minimum of 18 years and a maximum of 33 years.
  • The SC or ST category candidate will be given 5 years of age relaxation.
  • The OBC and PwD category candidates will be given 3 and 13 years of age relaxation, respectively.
Qualification Criteria (As per last year posts)
  • Junior Engineer / Material Superintendent – The candidates must have an Engineering diploma or degree in the relevant field.
  • Junior Engineer (IT): The candidates must have PGDCA/B.Sc. (Computer Science)/ BCA/ B.Tech (IT)/ B.Tech (Computer Science)/ DOEACC B course of 3 years or equivalent from a identified university or institute
  • Chemical and Metallurgical Assistance (CMA):Candidates should have done a Bachelor’s in Science with Physics and Chemistry by scoring a minimum of 55% aggregate marks.

RRB JE Exam Pattern

The applicants need to know about the exam pattern as if you will don’t have an idea of the exam pattern then applicants will be not able to do the proper exam preparation. The candidates who will be shortlisted for CBT 2 based on Normalization and the one who qualifies for the CBT 2 examination will be called for the Document verification round but for this round shortlisting will be again done based on Normalisation marks.
