Kasturba Medical College, Manipal is an autonomous medical college under the management of Kasturba Trust, Mangalore, and a non-profit organization. It is the first self-financing medical college in the private sector. KMC Manipal was established in 1953 by the Kasturba Health Society. The idea of a private medical college originated in the mind of Dr. T.M.A. Pai, a renowned educationist and philanthropist of Karnataka.
