RRB ALP Technician Stage 1 Syllabus

  • Mathematics: Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Pipes & Cistern, Calendar & Clock, etc.
  • General Intelligence and Reasoning: Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series, Coding and decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusions and Decision Making, Similarities and Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement – Arguments and Assumptions, etc.

RRB ALP Syllabus of Stage 2 (CBT 2)

The second stage remains MCQ based. Below are the subjects covered in CBT 2:

  • Mathematics & Reasoning: Same as Stage 1 (Detailed above).
  • Basic Science and Engineering: Engineering Drawing, Units, Measurements, Mass Weight and Density, Work Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education, IT Literacy, etc.
  • General Awareness of Current Affairs: Science and technology, Sports, Culture, Personalities, Economics, Politics, etc.

Critical Medical Standards (A-1 Category)

You must meet the A-1 Medical Standard to be eligible for the ALP post. This is the strictest medical category in Indian Railways.

  • Vision: Distance Vision must be 6/6, 6/6 without glasses.
  • Near Vision: Sn. 0.6, 0.6 without glasses.
  • Tests: Must pass tests for Colour Vision, Binocular Vision, Night Vision, and Mesopic Vision.

RRB ALP Exam Pattern 2026

RRB ALP 1st Stage (CBT) Exam Pattern

  • Exam Duration: 60 minutes
  • Number of Questions: 75
  • Negative Marking: 1/3 mark for each incorrect answer.

RRB ALP 2nd Stage (CBT) Exam Pattern 2026

Divided into Part A (Merit based) and Part B (Qualifying trade test). Part B requires a 35% score for all candidates.

  • Part A: 90 Minutes, 100 Questions.
  • Part B: 60 Minutes, 75 Questions (Trade-specific).

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality: Citizens of India or subjects of Nepal and Bhutan.
  • Age Limit: 18 to 30 years (Current 2026 cycle). Age Relaxation applies for SC/ST (5 yrs), OBC (3 yrs), and PWD (10-15 yrs).
  • Education Qualification: Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI / Course completed ACT apprentices OR Diploma/degree in engineering.
