About NIRF:-

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a ranking framework being developed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to rank institutions on the basis of their performance.

The framework will be used by the government, industry, and the public to make decisions on a wide range of issues, from higher education funding and policy to degree-granting powers and the rankings of individual institutions. The framework is built on the framework for ranking educational institutions.

The NIRF is being developed in consultation with institutions, bodies such as the All India Association of Vice-Chancellors and the Association of Indian Universities, and experts. The rankings will be used to identify institutions of higher learning that are performing well and those that need to improve.
