About NIRF:-

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a ranking framework being developed by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) to rank institutions on the basis of their performance. The framework will be used by the government, industry, and the public to make decisions on a wide range of issues, from higher education funding and policy to degree-granting powers and the rankings of individual institutions. The framework is built on the framework for ranking educational institutions. The NIRF is being developed in consultation with institutions, bodies such as the All India Association of Vice-Chancellors and the Association of Indian Universities, and experts.

The rankings will be used to identify institutions of higher learning that are performing well and those that need to improve. it will also be used to make policy recommendations and to develop the human resource management system of higher education in India. The rankings will help the government and the public to identify institutions of higher learning that are performing well and those that need to improve.

It aims to help decision-makers and the public identify and prioritize higher-performing institutions and institutions in a cluster. The NIRF will provide a common benchmark to measure the performance of institutions and the achievement of the goals of the Government of India and will help in improving the quality of higher education in the country.
