CTET - Important Date, Eligibility Criteria, Exam Pattern, Syllabus

CTET (Central Teacher Eligibility Test) is administered by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). CTET  is the national level examination and it is conducted for the shortlisting the candidates to the post of teacher. In CTET two papers are conducted i.e. Paper I and Paper II. Paper I is for the candidates who to be the teacher of Class I to V students and Paper II is conducted for those who want to be the teacher of Class VI to VIII students.

The candidates who qualify the CTET examination by scoring minimum passing marks those are shortlisted for teacher post but in order to get the teacher post job in the government, private, semi-government sector, candidates should have done B.ed and BTC course from the recognized university/college. CTET Eligibility Criteria

Before filling the CTET Application Form candidates should first ensure that whether he/she is eligible for appearing in the exam or not. From below read the detailed Eligibility Criteria of CTET.

Eligibility Criteria For Classes I-V Teacher (Primary Stage)

  • By scoring 50% marks candidates should have qualified 12th standard or equivalent exam. Students appearing in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Elementary Education can also apply. (OR)
  • According to NCTE Norms - The applicant must have qualified 12th or it’s equivalent by scoring 45% marks. Who are appearing or qualified in the final year of 2nd-year Diploma in Elementary Education can also register. (OR)
  • Must have qualified 12th or its equivalent by obtaining a minimum 50% marks and must have qualified or appeared in the final year of 2- year Diploma in Special Education. (OR)
  • The candidates should have passed Bachelors and B.Ed by obtaining 50% marks
Eligibility Criteria For Classes VI-VIII Teacher (Elementary Stage)
  1. Candidates must have qualified graduation and should be qualified or appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma (in Elementary Education). OR
  2. By scoring 50% marks candidates should have completed bachelors and must have qualified or appeared in 1st-year B.Ed. OR
  3. By scoring 50% marks candidates should have completed bachelors and must have qualified or appeared in 1st-year B.Ed. OR
  4. The candidates must have passed 12th or equivalent by obtaining 50% marks and must have qualified/appearing in the 4- year (final year) B.EI.Ed. OR
  5. Aspirants must have done Senior Secondary or equivalent by scoring 50% marks and qualified/appearing in the 4- year (final year) B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A.Ed/B.Sc.Ed. OR
  6. Should have scored 50% marks in final year graduation and must have qualified or appeared in 1st-year Special Education.

Minimum Qualifying Marks -  In order to qualify the CTET examination General and SC/ST/OBC category candidate has to obtain 60% and 55% marks, respectively.
