UGC NET - Important Dates, Eligibility Criteria, Exam Pattern, Syllabus

Twice in a year, the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The UGC NET is a national level examination and is organized for hiring the candidates to the post of Assistant Professor and by giving this exam qualified candidates can also get selected for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF). Out 85 subjects candidates can choose any one subject for appearing in the UGC NET examination. UGC NET 2020

Each year more than lakh of candidates appear for the examination. Usually in the month of June and December UGC NET Examination is conducted bt the agency. From below Check the tentative UGC NET examination schedule.

UGC NET Eligibility Criteria

Firstly read the eligibility criteria before applying for the examination as if applicants found ineligible then he/she will be not be considered for the further examination process. Read the detailed eligibility criteria from below.

Age Limit

  • JRF - The general and SC/ST/OBC category candidates age must be of 30 and 25 years old, respectively.
  • Assistant Professor - No Age Boundation.

Age Relaxation

  • Experienced candidates (in the research field only) will be given 5 years of age relaxation.
  • The one who has dome LLM must be 33 years old.
  • Candidates served armed forces are given 5 years of relaxation.

Qualification Criteria

  • The candidates should have completed masters in Humanities (including languages) and Social Science, Computer Science, and Applications, Electronic Science, etc (list of subjects given below).
  • The general and SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates in master must have scored 55% and 50% aggregate marks, respectively.

UGC NET Syllabus

Among 85 subject candidates have to choose any of the subjects at one time candidates can appear for a single exam. Different subjects are containing different topics and as per the mentioned topics, the question will be asked in the examination.
